I have The Serenity Prayer right above my desk, and read it a lot these days! It’s an affirmation that really helps. It’s just one of the great contemporary ways to frame artwork, so they are ready to hang, right out of the box! Here’s what it looks like (above). It’s available as a “gallery wrap” so you see the roses along all the sides. Or it can be just what you need to help you have the “serenity to accept…” Sometimes, that’s all you need! As the serenity prayer says - 'live one day at a time enjoying one moment at a time,' you must create a habit of focusing on the present day's issues and blessings. I can also personalize the calligraphy with adding your names, dates and other text. Although this is a very religious country, there are those who prefer the version without using the name of God. Serenity prayers are created mostly for the spiritually-inclined, but they are still encouraged in people who don’t necessarily subscribe to a religion. It sometimes helps participants acknowledge that they need help from a Higher power to get them through. The Serenity Prayer can be sung in a variety of ways for different settings from weddings to Rites of Initiation and also during informal prayer times. I’ve also done two versions, one with “God” and one without. The Serenity Prayer was written to help people struggling with addiction. The shorter the text, the more opportunity a calligrapher has to use lettering, spacing, fonts, colors and placement to bring out not just the beauty, but the meaning.
